Rules of Engagement 4 (Rule of Love and Respect 3)

According to Pastor Faith Oyedepo, “Every man wants his wife to make him feel important. Everyone has an invisible sign hanging from his neck, saying, "Make me feel important." Your husband is no exception. Learn to give your husband his place in the home.”

Here are vital things every wife should know about the power of respect in marriage

1. Submission makes your Husband feel respected:
Two people cannot drive a car at the same time, any attempt to do so will lead to accident. Similarly, when you refuse to submit to your husband’s leadership, he feels unloved because it violates the blueprint and order of marriage. This is why Paul's admonished  in Ephesians 5:22;  Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Please note that submission is not the same as slavery. It is an act of love, not motivated by fear or threats. Submission makes it easy for your husband to hear and to yield to God.
Oneness does not cancel hierarchy. Even in the Godhead, although they are one, there is hierarchy. Although the Son has his own will, but he was subject to the Father’s will. In Gethsemane, Jesus cried out and said: “not my will, but thy will be done.”

2. Stay under Authority
Submission in marriage is recognizing the need for leadership hierarchy and honoring it. Ephesians 5:24 says; Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
To be subject to your husband means to be under authority. No matter the inequality between the husband and the wife financially, educationally, ministerially or socially; the standard of God stands sure.
The key to success in your marriage is by becoming subject to your Husband. This is so important that Apostle Peter still reinforced this in 1 Peter 3:1. This scripture holds the key to how to relate with an unbelieving husband and how to change him without stress. He said: “Wives, in a similar way, place yourselves under your husbands' authority. Some husbands may not obey God's word. Their wives could win these men for Christ by the way they live without saying anything.”
