Rules of Engagement 4 (Rule of Love and Respect 2)

Joyce Meyer observed: “there are two kinds of love we can give people. First, is the plain ordinary love that people must deserve and earn. When we feel they don’t deserve our love, we withhold it. We can also give the love of God which he has given us. We can let his love flow through us. God’s love is an unconditional love, we can receive it from him and give it away.”

Here is another thing every husband should know about the power of love and respect in marriage.

3. Build your Wife with your words:
Generally speaking, women (including your wife) are very sensitive to words, especially if her primary love language is words of affirmation. Speaking soul lifting and loving words has a cleansing and purifying effect on people. Don’t break your wife with your words.

Ephesians 5:26 says: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

4. Submit to one another:
The issue of submission has always been concentrated more on wives, but Paul talks about submitting to one another in Ephesians 5:21; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. The evidence of true love is the ability to submit your desire for the satisfaction of your spouse. The life of Jesus is a typical example.
Jesus submitted his time, resources and ultimately his life, to save his bride. His submission made it possible for him to achieve his goal, to present a bride without blemish.
In the next episode, we will consider vital things every woman should know about the power of love and respect in marriage.
