Partnering with your Help meet to fulfill Purpose, Part 3

No matter how much success a man records, if he fails to meet his family's needs, he has failed indeed. We have compiled two important areas in which the success of every family will be measured.

1.  Home Management

Before a man can be qualified for certain leadership positions in God's kingdom, he must have successfully managed his family.

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;  (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 1Timothy 3:1-5

If 1Timothy 3:1-5 is true, any man that failed with his family has failed indeed. What shall it profit a man, if he builds a big church, business, or a corporation but lost his family?
Every husband should learn from Abraham. God bragged about Abraham's ability to order his family in the way of the lord. This was however possible because Abraham had a wonderful wife, Sarah.

The work of a good wife is to complement her husband and make him a complete man. Learn from Abigail! She saved Nathan from the consequences of his foolish action, and saved her entire household.

Titus 3:4-5 refers to women as keepers: They keep their home running. You are entrusted with minute details of running the home. This includes catering for the children and managing the affair of the home.

Another important aspect is work.

2.  Work

Every family have a unique assignment, just like the family of Mr. and Mrs Adam in Genesis 2:

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Genesis 2:15
Adam’s work was to dress the garden and keep it and Eve was his helper. The Hebrew word for dress in Genesis 2:15 is abad, which means work (in any sense)

Every man has a garden, and that is primary place of assignment. The garden could be an NGO, a corporation, a ministry, an institution etc, in any sense. The assignment of both man and wife are to dress and keep it. Like the parable of the husbandmen:

Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. Luke 20:9

Unfortunately, many men don’t even know the location/existence of their vineyards. In some other cases, the men are aware, but they are not working in agreement with their wives. The wife has her own vineyard, while the man has his own. That is a massive failure.

As husband and wife, you must realize that you are co-laborers in the same vineyard. Know your vineyard, dress it and keep it together as a team. When a woman makes her husband fail, or fails to help him succeed, the same fate that met Adam and Eve awaits them:

What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. Mark 12:91
