Authentic Motherhood (Part 2)

3.         A mother is a Lover
Have you heard that a good son belongs to the father, while the bad one is the mother’s  property? This is because the mother’s love is so strong that even when the child goes wayward and the father denies him, his mother’s heart will still be yearning for her child. On a funny note, while Jesus was dying on Calvary, Mary his mother, was there crying, but Joseph was not on the scene.
All the qualities of a mother are motivated by her love. Her love-womb gives births to love attributes. Love drives her on her knees to pray for her husband and her children.

Do you remember the ideal gas in chemistry? That was how the woman in Proverbs 31 appeared to me; too good to be true. But, I later got to understand by the Spirit that, for a woman to exemplify authentic virtuosity as portrayed in Proverbs 31, she must be a true lover. Everything she does must be born out of love.

4.         A mother is an Intercessor
Some singles wait to get married before they intercede for their families. That is a costly mistake because failure to prepare is preparing to fail, and prayer (and other things) does the ground preparations. We learnt from the movie “War Room”, that the best place to defeat the enemy is on our kneels.

The only reason some people are enjoying the wealth and blessings they have today is because of the prayers of their parents. Unfortunately, many people are exposing the future of their children and families to jeopardy because they are trivializing prayer.

5.         A mother is sensitive and discerning
Mothers like Sarah, Abraham’s wife, can smell mischief from a distance. She saw that Isaac was not safe with Haggai and her son even Abraham didn’t agree initially. But thank God, Sarah’s sensitivity saved the day (smiles).
On several occasions in the bible, an angel appear first to the woman and she delivers the information to her husband. An example is the mother of Samson, who was Manuel’s wife. Another typical example is Mary the mother of Jesus.
Mothers can also discern divine timing. Mary was instrumental to the first miracle of Jesus, even though Jesus wanted to maintain incognito at the wedding. A mother is sensitive to the needs of her children and her husband and proactively prepares ahead.

6.         A mother is indispensable
She is too valuable to be neglected. Some young men, even when they neglect and abandon their mothers continue doing well until the mother dies. A mother fills a large vacuum in the family. Proverb 31:10 says her presence brings delight to her household.

7.         A mother is a Giver
A mother is sensitive to the needs of her family. She gives her time, energy, resources and even sacrifice her interests to ensure the best for her family.
