Authentic Motherhood (Part 1)

According to Abraham Lincoln, "No one is poor who has had a godly mother.” He added that "All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother".  If you are a woman, I celebrate you because the role a woman (as a mother) plays cannot be over emphasized. In fact, everyday should be mother’s day (smiles).

Some mothers are so sensitive that they detect and disarm many troubles from showing up, both on their knees and in their wisdom. Billy Sunday also said "I don’t believe there are devils enough in hell to pull a boy out of the arms of a godly mother."

Motherhood is a Calling.
Although some people have children before they read their first book on parenting or motherhood, ignorance does not alter purpose, it just makes its victim suffer in ignorance.

Motherhood is not just about increasing the population density through child-bearing, but it is a call to be a blessing to a generation. I will quickly share certain responsibilities of a mother. This attributes and roles are not just for women, but also for men who will marry or raise great women.

1.         A mother is a comforter
This is a God-quality every mother should exemplify to their families. God comforts his children just like a mother does. Isaiah 66:13 says; As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
As a mother, learn how to be a comforter from the Holy Spirit. God comforts and guides his children through the help of the Holy Spirit. In the amplified translation of John 14:16, the word comforter also means: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby.

2.         A mother is a teacher
Train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old, he will not depart from it. Mothers are mantled with the responsibility of instilling the values of the family into the children through teaching.
The bible talks about some great mothers. For example, Timothy who was one of the youngest Bishops in the Bible was trained by his great mother, Eunice and his grandmother, Lois.
In Proverbs 31, King Lumen’s mother also gave him a set of teachings and instructions about a virtuous woman. She was preparing her son for a great marriage.
